MU TARIQ: A Man with a Purpose

Growing up in Washington, DC in the 80s was no easy task – it definitely came with its fair share of lessons and life experiences for Mu Tariq. A life-altering incident occurred just as he was entering adulthood: he was shot at close range in the neck on the streets of the nation’s capital, which, at that time, was dubbed the “Murder Capital.” This heart-wrenching tragedy left him clinging to his life; his doctors proclaimed that he would never walk again, but the strong-willed Mu Tariq had other plans. So, with sheer willpower, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and the support of his loved ones, he set out to begin living his life with purpose and to become that vessel and voice for the same streets that almost took his life.

Fast forward: Mu Tariq can proudly say he is one of Amazon’s Bestsellers with several books published, one titled #INPYSH, which delves into the intricacies of the male/female relationship. His sophomore release, co-authored with his loving mother B. Ernul Tariq and titled We the People are Racists, taps into the human consciousness and the state of the black community. Both books are very real, raw and gritty, so be prepared when reading them. You are definitely in for a treat.

In 2015 with his devoted queen Yvette Elizabeth Tariq by his side (she also has her own Chosen Beauty Brand), he took his love for helping the public to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he opened “The Station”: a state-of-the-art, full-service multimedia broadcasting facility. He wanted to open an opportunity for people to create their own media to be heard across the world. He hosts his own broadcast from this platform as well, titled “Mu and Friends.”

The Tariqs’ portfolio also includes Chosen Branding and Publishing Services, where they assist businesses with company branding, website design and logo development, as well as promotional and marketing needs.

Together, this socially conscious duo has made a name for themselves as dedicated community activists who believe that it is time to take back control of our communities.
