I had the opportunity to attend Vital Magazine’s Awards Ceremony, which was held in Baltimore, MD and hosted by Ms. Dana Hicks. This event had a great purpose and showed tremendous support for the individuals that are accomplishing amazing things in Baltimore and the Washington, DC area.
While in attendance I met a gentleman who had a very impressive foundation that I had to share.
William T. Paige is the founder and CEO of Boys 2 Bowties. Boys 2 Bowties is a Nonprofit 501 (C) (3) mentoring organization aiming to support adolescents from the ages of 8-18. They provide workshops, mentors and consultations that aid in restoring young adults and respectable residents. They are teaching young men about culture awareness, respect, work ethics and accountability.
Mr. Paige is a native Washingtonian and educated in numerous public schools in the Washington, DC area, and is currently Executive Assistant to the Health Sciences Executive Team at Howard University. He is also a respectable life coach and motivational speaker. He has served in the United States Air Force and serves on three civic-based programs, from feeding those in need to a re-entry program that helps newly released offenders through P.R.E.P., and now he is dedicated to helping adolescents through his Boys 2 Bowties program.
It’s not hard to figure out that we are in dire need of help for our young men in trouble, most times brought on by an absentee parent in the home, drug abuse and physical abuse. Most often they are the products of all the above. Programs like Boys 2 Bowties help to build a bridge for our young men to reach their goals and a better future that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
Does it take a village? Yes. Is it going to take an army and a village? Yes, but it can be done. If just one child can be reached, then this program is doing its part.
Currently Boys 2 Bowties is recruiting mentors, volunteers and supporters to help the enrichment and guiding of our young men into becoming responsible adults. Let them know we still care and we are in their corner.
