Eyebrows are sure to raise after viewing the very interesting and quite controversial music video, “Famous” by Kanye West. Those who viewed the unauthorized replicated wax figures of themselves spoke very little of it, while others ignored it all together. But exactly what is Mr. West’s message behind the video? Is it something astronomically genius that the average person could never grasp, or is he shedding some light on unpublicized relations and relationships we had no clue existed? Makes you kind of wonder, right? Well…here’s where we get to play detective and put together our own little theory on the meaning of this “Famous,” on-the-verge-of-becoming-infamous music video.
Familiar Faces
Of course Kanye was featured in his own video, but why all the others? There’s Kim Kardashian, Ray J, Amber Rose, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Caitlyn Jenner, Taylor Swift, Bill Cosby, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour and George W. Bush. Let’s take a trip down memory lane…
Who doesn’t remember Ray J and Kim Kardashian’s famous sex tape?
And Kanye’s previous and very much publicized relationship with Amber Rose made her famous (there’s that word again) and instantly social media’s favorite beautiful, semi-bald blonde.
Chris Brown and Rihanna’s violent relationship was aired on every major TV station just as Bruce Jenner’s (previously Kim’s step-father) transformation into the beautiful Caitlyn Jenner (Kim’s step-mother)
Connecting the Dots
Now with all of this juicy media coverage from those mentioned above you can only wonder where Taylor, Bill, Donald and Anna fit in. Well…when you think about things from a non-relationship, sexual or sexuality point of view but add Kanye in there as a common denominator then it makes sense as to why Taylor Swift’s wax figure would be amongst the famous nude celebs featured in his video! Thinking back on the run-in between her and Kanye during the 2009 VMA’s when he rushed the stage during her acceptance speech and literally snatched the mic from her hand leaving many spectators shocked by that unexpected interruption which happened to give her a boost in record sales, popularity and known as (to those who weren’t familiar with her music) “That poor little rich white girl who Kanye snatched the mic from.” So that leaves us with Bill, Donald and Anna.
Bill Cosby’s rape case has not only made headlines but it has also made it’s way into our homes and bedrooms (if you watch tv in bed like I do), just as Donald Trump running for president making them both very relevant in this day and age! Without a doubt it is certain you will find a source covering the surroundings of both men’s lives.
Next, we have Ms. Anna Wintour. Since Kanye has been known for his style and great taste in fashion, then it really comes as no surprise that he’d include the well-known fashion icon in the video. With her being one of the world’s most respected fashionistas and the editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine, you’ve got to ask why not?
Last but not least, who could forget George W. Bush and Kanye’s accusation that the former U.S. president “doesn’t care about black people?” This shocking comment on live TV referred to what he viewed as Bush’s lack of interest in saving the lives of minorities affected by Hurricane Katrina. Eyes popped and jaws dropped when this statement was made on live television but after being called out by then-First Lady, Laura Bush, Kanye quickly recanted and made a public apology.
So it seems as though Kanye sought out to include replicas of some of the most influential figures of pop culture today for this controversial video. Check out the “Famous” video below and tell us why you think Kanye created this fictitious bedroom scene!
