When it comes to forgiveness some have an easier time with it than most and for various reasons. If you struggle with being merciful towards others, then it might be even more difficult to show that same compassion towards yourself. It is said that we are all our own worst critics which may explain the difficulty in being sympathetic towards ourselves but internalizing mistakes is unhealthy.

Mistakes are a natural part of life, however the problem isn’t even in making them, it’s in your perspective and repeating the same mistakes. Your mistakes don’t define who you are but they do help evolve you into the person you’re meant to be. For example, if you constantly have to learn everything the hard way then the truth is that you aren’t really learning at all. Forgiving yourself means that you acknowledge the mistake, recognize the issue and will avoid doing the same thing again. Think of it this way, not every mistake is as bad as it may seem. We experience some things simply as life lessons that are necessary to prevent possible disappointments in the future and to facilitate your growth.

In different stages of your life you will act and react to things in various ways depending on the circumstances. Maybe someone close to you said something to upset you in the past and your response then was nothing like the one you would give now, if any at all. You shouldn’t hold a grudge against yourself for it. Have you ever heard the saying, “If I knew then what I know now?” Well in order to know it now, you had to live through it then. Some instances will cause you to say and behave in ways you never thought imaginable, After all, your mindset and heart changes as you learn and interact with people. Try not to be so hard on yourself and enjoy the beauty in the journey. There will be some situations in life that you have to go through in order to grow through it. So forgive yourself. Let go, grow, and glow!
