Some may say that Nicki Minaj has held the “best female rapper” title for a while now, but now she can add another title to her name. She was given the key to the city of Queens for her “Outstanding Career Achievements in Music.” She was presented with a plaque and key by borough president Melinda Katz.
Nicki always represents her home of South Jamaica, Queens and was extremely proud to be honored by her home city. Although born in Saint James, Trinidad, Nicki moved to Queens at the age of 5 with her family to start a new life. Nicki’s infamous stage performances almost never go unnoticed. She honed in on her skills while attending the famous La Guardia High School of Music and Art in Queens where she studied acting and singing. In 2009, Nicki stole the attention of Lil Wayne and Young Money Entertainment after releasing three mix-tapes that garnered her much success. The Head Barb attended the key ceremony just a few hours before her NBA Awards performance where she performed “No Frauds” and fired a few shots at her rap rival Remy Ma.
Nicki Minaj shows no signs of stopping, and after receiving this major key; it looks like she will have her eye on the throne for years to come.
Congrats Nicki!
