On occasions we have a tendency to close ourselves off to the world for one reason or another so I have decided to open myself up to a certain extent with a Q & A on myself. Here goes:
USTYLE: What do you do for a living?
Bridgette: I am a Surgical Coordinator by trade. I have done that for the past 17 years and I am currently the CEO and Creator of the USTYLE Magazine Brand.
USTYLE: How did the concept of USTYLE Magazine come about?
Bridgette: In 1998 I assisted Benji Little who was the Creator and Publisher of a local magazine called, Go-Go Swings. In 1999 I decided to venture out on my own and create my own print magazine called, Capital City Magazine which of course is now defunct. Lol. Fast Forward ahead I was bored silly doing nothing fulfilling so it was said to me, “Hey why don’t you start you magazine again. That is something you loved doing” So I agreed but only to do it online everything had gone digital, so I grabbed a fresh notebook and a pen and began outlining every detail of it, researched and reached out to Kato Hammond, who is the Publisher and Creator of TMOTT Go-Go and also my webmaster who maintains the sight for me. I gave him my vision and he created my website and I continue building from there, there shortly after USTYLE Magazine Internet Talk Radio Show was created.
USTYLE: Do you have enough money?
Bridgette: Never, not until my Mom and two boys are not wanting for anything.
USTYLE: Do you think you are a good person?
Bridgette: Honestly I try to be. I try to keep my thoughts and intentions pure but hey we are all human and yes at times we fall short but I’m a work in progress daily.
USTYLE: How old are you?
Bridgette: 48
USTYLE: Who’s your best friend?
Bridgette: LaTaunya Leonard, since Middle School
USTYLE: What was your childhood dream?
Bridgette: To be a Singer and Actress. Actually as a little girl I use to write songs, well they were poems in reality, Lol and I would send them off to those little ads in the back of the TV Guide that would say, “We buy songs” and I actually got a few letters back to buy my poems/songs. I recall my Dad telling me one day after receiving one of the letters in the mail saying, “who told you you could sing?” Man I was so proud of my self. I just knew I was doing something. Lol
USTYLE: How Often Do You Laugh?
Bridgette: Not often enough or as much as I would like to. This world is so full of the most distasteful things, you have to almost force laughter out of people.
USTYLE: What makes you smile?
Bridgette: A warm, sunny summer day
USTYLE: Who’s your most dangerous enemy?
Bridgette: Actually not who but what, my mind. I’m a thinker so I have a tendency to overthink a lot and read heavy into things.
USTYLE: What is your dream vacation destination?
Bridgette: Dubai
USTYLE: Where would you love to retire?
Bridgette: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
USTYLE: Do you think you are strong?
Bridgette: With certain things but it seems I’m getting weaker in my old age. Lol
USTYLE: What was the most important thing you’ve done so far?
Bridgette: Raising two incredibly amazing young men.
USTYLE: Why did you revert to Islam?
Bridgette: Well I’ve always been spiritually. I was raised but raised forced into Christianity. As I got older I became or interested in Islam. In 2016 I began asking questioning and I remember purchasing the book, Islam for Dummies and began reading it and in April/2018 I took a leap of Faith and took my Shahada.
USTYLE: How hard has transitioning into the Muslim lifestyle been for you?
Bridgette: Ummmm, it’s been challenging to say the least. Adopting an entirely different lifestyle while learning a new religion and language is very challenging and it’s a very disciplined religion, however the Muslims community from day one has been very welcoming and supportive to say the least however I’m enjoying this change for the betterment of me.
USTYLE: What was the most stupid thing you’ve done so far?
Bridgette: Too trusting.
USTYLE: What do you fear the most?
Bridgette: Honestly, My Mom or my children passing away before I do.
USTYLE: What is your favorite word or phrase?
Bridgette: Enigma. I learned the meaning of that word almost twenty years ago and its always fascinated me. Look at it, it’s a sexy word!
USTYLE: When was the last time you cried?
Bridgette: Yesterday
USTYLE: What is the best thing that could happen to you right now?
Bridgette: Reaching the true epiphany of happiness.
USTYLE: What is the worst thing that could happen to you right now?
Bridgette: Losing my Iman and becoming an empty heartless human being.
USTYLE: Picture yourself 5 years from now?
Bridgette: Going down to Texas A&M watching my 16 year old play college football.
USTYLE: Do you regret anything?
Bridgette: Ummmm, yes a few things, most importantly not going to college. Just to experience that college lifestyle would have been amazing to me. I probably would be a AKA right now.
USTYLE: What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Bridgette: Honestly, scroll my social media accounts until it’s time to make Wudu and offer Salaat.
USTYLE: What are you thinking just before going to bed?
Bridgette: How freaking tired I am. Lol
USTYLE: What was the highest point you’ve ever been to?
Bridgette: Actually being able to meet and talk to Civil and Women’s rights activist, Dorothy Height. It was amazing to actually be face to face with history.

USTYLE: What are you most proud of?
Bridgette: My accomplishments in Business and Personal.
USTYLE: Sum up your life in one sentence
Bridgette: I’m almost there.
USTYLE: Name the one thing that annoys you the most?
Bridgette: People who feel they are entitled to something.
USTYLE: What is your No. 1 question to God?
Bridgette: Why so much pain and heartache?
USTYLE: Do you have secrets?
Bridgette: Of course I do but if I told you they wouldn’t be secrets anymore.
USTYLE: What makes you laugh?
Bridgette: Hearing other people laugh, especially my kids.
