Though it was never a dormant issue, there has been a recent surge in media coverage of matters related to race. With public servants, elected officials, and people everywhere expressing an intense hate for people of color, we have pulled together five affirmations to remind you the #blackgirlmagic you will get you through any social injustice!
Repeat one of these a day three times in the morning and before bed.
1. I am a competent woman. I know my skills and experience add value to the world around me.
Your life experiences and talents combined with your mind and thoughts make your contribution to the world unique and valuable. Remember, you are one-of-a-kind and the world needs to see you shine!
2. My circumstances do not define my destiny.
You are not what happens to you! Don’t let your environment, the labels of others or your current emotional state define who you are! You are defined only by the decisions you make, the risks you take, and the goals you set and exceed.
3. I am beautiful and I will attract beauty into my life.
Gone are the days when you accept a back-handed compliment that “you are pretty for a black girl.” You are unique. Your physical features are signs of your ancestors and should be embraced and celebrated!
4. I deserve success and happiness. I will maintain a healthy momentum as I reach for my goals.
Success is not a privilege for members of other races. Success is defined by you and all the tools you need to achieve success and happiness are found within you. Train your mind to start your day by considering a plan to accomplish your personal goal.
5. I am aware of the social climate but the climate will not be my truth. I am strong. I will succeed. I will win.
Black men are killed by police officers and the cell phone camera has made the wrongful death of black men more prominent in the local news networks. Black women are categorically mislabeled as angry, controlling, irate and more!
Recite these 5 #blackgirlsrock affirmations three times in the morning and night to cure any self-doubt or self-hate fueled by the media’s mis-portrayal of the black community. Don’t let anyone tell you who you are or what you are capable of! Shift your mindset to position yourself for greatness before you start your day and end your night!!
