In asking that age-old question, what constitutes true happiness? Some of the answers we were given ranged from money to cars to the best designer clothes a person could buy, and the most popular answer we received was a man or woman. Well, all those answers were wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, they will satisfy you for a moment, but are you truly happy? Is your heart content? Well, I’m here to tell you to trash that list, because that list will never be enough. We have all seen those people who have everything and yet they are still miserable. Society has conditioned us to think that if we are not the Jones’s then we are not relevant.
True happiness is a happy spirit and a balanced life. A person who can smile genuinely from her heart and do the same for someone else exudes true happiness. Take time to enjoy life. Take a look around at all that you have access to. Don’t get caught up in what you don’t have, and superimpose your sense of lack over all that is readily available to you and get the right perspective. A person at peace with her God is generally content with her life, full of love and free of desperation.
The void that nags us most is the vast chasm that waits to be filled with our purpose and our calling: the reason we were created. I truly believe the saying that if you find something that you love to do and would do it even you didn’t get paid for it, that’s your passion. That’s your happiness. Happiness starts and ends with us. It’s time to take stock of our priorities and gifts.
